User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars The Best Comprehensive Job Search Book Out There
I have looked at many job search books and non of them came close to this book. The book is excellent and is packed with many gems that everyone looking for a job could use. Susan is a brilliant writer and covers many facits of the job search process. There are many examples and explanations. It is hard to go over everything covered in the book because there is so much information. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a job. Make sure you check out Resume Magic and Interview Magic. These books are excellent as well.

2 Stars Too Much Information
JSM is the perfect reference book for professional career counselors. For the rest of us,this book is much too long. I borrowed it from the library, then bought it from Amazon since I still wasn’t done plodding through it after 3 weeks. If you are looking for a book on building and managing your career, I recommend, Expect to Win by Carla Harris. For a guide to finding a job, try The KISS Guide to Managing Your Career by Ken Lawson from DK Publishers. If you do buy JSM, no need to invest $13 on Resume Magic. The section included here is sufficient(I bought RM too). Job Search Magic, is full of exercises designed to uncover your natural talents and corresponding industry match. My suggestion: borrow this book from the library (if you must) and select only the chapter topics you need (interviews, salary negotiation, resume writing etc).

5 Stars One of the best
This Job Search guide is so god that I felt compelled to write a review so others will know that it stands out from the rest. There are so many books out there on the job hunt and most say the same old thing – this one says a lot of the “same old things” but also holds a lot of practical advice and tips that you will only hear from someone who has been through a successful job search recently.

The book is comprehensive starting with “what do I do next?,” moving to the basics of resume writing and interviewing and closing with negotiating for salary. In each section, and in an appendix at the end of the book, are invaluable “Magic Tips.”

There is just one bad thing about this book – it is large and heavy because it is jam packed with so much good information.

4 Stars Good Solid information
This is a good book on how to conduct a job search for the job that you really want.

5 Stars Job Search Magic Review
I have studied under this author at the Career Coach Academy, and she is awesome! She packs this book full of helps, inspiration, and interesting stories. It’s a must to have on the shelf of any job seeker or career coach.
