The Executive Job Search A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals

The indispensable guide for executives in search of a soft landing

The groups hardest hit by the most recent wave of downsizings have been upper and middle management. People with 10 or more years on the job, much or all of it spent at one company, are particularly unprepared for the rigors of today’s job market. The Executive Job Search shows these professionals how to take charge of their searches and land the jobs of their dreams.

Career expert Orrin Wood shows job seekers how to:

  • Determine their job goals so they can conduct a highly focused search
  • Improve their attractiveness to potential employers
  • Optimize their interviewing skills
  • Mine the contacts they’ve built up over the years for an effective networking campaign
  • Explore alternative career options and plan for the future

Readers will also find a gold mine of checklists, and sample forms and documents, including sample resumes, cover letters, interview scripts, and more.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great book, found a job fast
This book was really helpful, but what really helped me was going to http://www.100kCrossings.com . 100kCrossings has a comprehensive list of high quality jobs that are easy to sort through and find the one you are looking for. The jobs are listed only from employer websites so you know they are the real deal. 100kCrossings had more jobs listed than anywhere else.

4 Stars Great book on executive job search
This guide is really one of the best you will find on the executive job search subject. It is a very straight forward guide.

I found all the tips and exercises in the book very useful. It helped me find my dream job, I put everything I’ve learned to use at a website called ExecCrossing [...] which was great help on my search because it has jobs only from employer websites, and far more jobs than I’ve found on other job boards.

1 Star Not worth the money
NOthing new in this text that has not already been said/written a hundred times before.

Dissappointing purchase.

5 Stars Executive Job Search Handbook by Orrin Wood
Having experienced firsthand the sage advice of Orrin Wood in my own transition from corporate America to business entrepreneur, I applaud the publication of his second book. Recognizing how the landscape for the executive job hunt has changed, Mr. Wood provides important insights into the varied campaigns the successful candidate should undertake in this search. From thinking out of the box in developing your network of contacts, to understanding the power and the limitations of the internet, to setting critical hurdles for yourself – this book will challenge you to discipline and challenge yourself in this journey. This is the seasoned professional’s “no holes barred” handbook for negotiating the landscape for the “next chapter”. There are immediate and life lessons to be learned from this important book.

2 Stars Easier ways to find the same information
I see how this book can be useful to those who are new to the field. However, it does contain a lot of information that can be found on plenty of search engines on line. You can easily find the same knowledge, tips, and guides without having to fish through the pages of this book. I reccomend the following site http://www.execcrossing.com.
