Unemployed – What to Do

When you are unemployed, things can seem hopeless when you send out applications to hundred of different employers, but rarely receive a response. During these harrowing times, there are certain things that you can do to ensure that you are doing productive activities to help forward your career in the future.

I have been there too where everything seems hopeless. You apply to tons of different places only to find that you are not getting anywhere. There is no doubt in my mind that this current depression in our economy is hitting us hard. If only we could bring back the Clinton era of good times!

Well, what I would recommend that you do while you wait for your employment chance is to do things that will help your career. For instance, work on a master’s degree or other uppler level degree online. There are now plenty of accredited and reputable schools that will offer online courses and degrees that your employers will accept. Many of the schools are brick and mortar, so they will not even know you graduated from taking online classes. On your degree, it is not listed stating that you have taken online courses.

Also, sharpen up your resume, and compare it with other resumes online. If you were an employer, would you look favorably upon your resume? Next thing, improve your life in any specific way. Maybe you want to work on self confidence or speaking skills? Also, be sure that you do not neglect your health. Workout several times a week in order to keep your mind and body strong.
